Why We Launched LifetimeDeals.co

I really wanted to put pen to paper to talk about our ‘Why’ for starting Lifetime Deals. But before I do let me just quickly encapsulate what LTD is.

  1. Crazily good lifetime deals (LTD) for SaaS bargain hunters.
  2. Sustainable deals for businesses looking to grow their user base, but not lose future revenue.

This idea was literally born exactly one week ago today (a week before launch for those reading this in the future) in the idea generator that is Daniel Kempe’s grey matter. A SaaS addict to the core, a bargain hunter, a business owner and a believer in everyone winning in business. It’s actually surprising that this wasn’t the first idea Dan’s ever had, it’s so indicative of his outlook and interests.

He decided to get me and Lucia Fontaina-Powell involved with the company as we’ve worked together closely now for years and are all very similarly minded and enjoy networking with other entrepreneurs and companies, creating win/win scenarios and the thrill of a quick business launch :-)

Such a quick launch was facilitated by the outrageously impressive software over at Webflow, which we’re huge fans of. Without having to write a single line of code Dan had boshed together our site, complete with eCommerce functionality which integrates seamlessly with Stripe, to make adding products and taking secure payments easy as pie. Webflow just made it so easy for us!

Lucia and Dan quickly went about building relationships with business owners and brokering deals which wouldn’t only help them out with their growth and marketing objectives but would also be ‘no-brainer’ deals for our users.

We quickly got ourselves listed ready to launch Lifetime Deals on Product Hunt on Black Friday. We’ve long been passionate followers of PH and have launched several products and versions of products previously with great success, and we know how lucrative and fun it can be if done right!

At the core of LTD we all agreed we just wanted to build a different kind of deals site, one where it was in the best interest of both the company running the deal and the customer buying it. Other deals sites exist and you’ll no doubt be familiar with many of them, you might even be mentioning the ‘A’ word and for some reason visualising tacos and feeling hungry :-). But having had personal experience of running multiple deals ourselves, we knew that although these deals were utterly incredible for bolstering cash flow reserves, they could unfortunately be quite restrictive to the growth of companies given that they get no further future revenue from the new users in question. Thus running deals like this can limit future revenue from potentially paying customers.

We decided that it was only right that we gave the companies running these deals the majority of the profits from their deal — 70% of the profits to be precise. We just ask that they provide insane value for their users in the first year and/or offer a discount for life thereafter. What this means is that after that initial period of running the deal they will still make money from the users thereafter if they don’t churn. Essentially we just want to make the world a better place for everyone ;-)
